Gifted writer with decades of experience

Ovetta Wiggins

Ovetta is an accomplished journalist with more than 30 years in the newspaper industry, the last 20 years at The Washington Post. During that time she built a reputation as an empathic listener and a gifted writer.

Ovetta birthed This is My Story, a professional obituary writing service, after experiencing her own losses and recognizing the toll grief can have on families particularly while they are processing their loved one’s death and preparing for their funeral. She is using her gift of interviewing and storytelling to ease some of the pain and to lessen some of the stress of the bereaved.

Ovetta believes everyone has a story to tell and after years of writing breaking news, feature and investigative stories for major newspapers across the country, her job now is to help you tell your loved one’s story.

Ovetta lives in the metropolitan Philadelphia region. She enjoys traveling, going to Broadway shows (she has a solid playbill collection), competing in (ahem, playing in) game nights, doing word puzzles and enjoying a nice meal with family and friends.

What I Do
  • Original Content
  • I will take your treasured memories to build a life story your family will cherish. (There is no use of artificial intelligence because I believe your loved one deserves more than that.)
  • Empathy
  • I have been there, I know loss and understand grief. You can trust This Is My Story with your words and with your loved one’s story

Want to write a living obit? We’re here to handle it.

Don’t let your story go untold or not told the way you want.
